Aesthetic Surgery

Introduction

Aesthetic Plastic Surgery

Aesthetic plastic surgery aims to modify the shape of an anatomical region, that due to genetic inheritance, changes in metabolism or simply the effect of time may have an unwanted appearance by the patient.

Two are the main concerns when planning a procedure in aesthetic plastic surgery: natural results and function. It would not be appropriate to improve on the appearance of a nose if this would mean not being able to breathe well. In the same manner, it would not be acceptable to rejuvenate a face if this would reduce facial expression, augment a breast if it would produce a loss of sensation in the area or get rid of lower eyelid bags if this may produce a chronic conjunctivitis. For this reason, the procedure should be performed by a surgeon with extensive knowledge in anatomy and plenty of experience in reconstructive plastic surgery.

Results that are natural are achieved not only thanks to the good taste and artistic capacity of the surgeon, but especially thanks to his critical attitude and demanding personality. Besides the careful analysis of the errors committed by more conventional procedures that often produce artificial results, there must be a permanent attempt to remain up-to-date with the latest techniques, in order to provide patients with the surgical procedures that produce the most natural results with the least possible risk.
